With nothing more than their father's well wishes and $150 to their name, brothers Paul and Robert Crevier founded Opera Diamond Ltd. in 1952, becoming the first French Canadian entrepreneurs to break into Montreal's jewelry sector. A short three years later, the House of Opera opened its first store on 130 Liège St. East, in Montreal's Villeray neighbourhood.
Over the next twenty years, Opera Diamond married an uncompromising focus on high quality with affordability in crafting the watches, diamonds, jewelry, fine ornaments and elegant accessories offered to a loyal clientele. Travelling across Europe and the Far East in search of gems and other treasures, the Crevier brothers and their team developed a wide range of products that reflected their distinctive tastes and appealed to a discerning public. By the early 1970s, Opera had over 19 stores and outlets across Quebec.
Paul Crevier passed his abiding love of beauty along to his children, Danielle and Louis Crevier. Also possessed of the entrepreneurial spirit that so defined their father, the next generation of Creviers were inspired to reclaim the reins of Opera and restore it to an updated incarnation of its former glory. Their modernized and refined collection features fine jewelry created from high quality rhodium-plated 925 sterling silver.
While committed to preserving the tradition of affordable luxury for which Opera Diamond Ltd. is renowned, Danielle and Louis enrich the House with their combined business acumen. Danielle brings a background in fashion and import/export to the table, while Louis contributes a deep knowledge of financial management and marketing. Their team is complemented by Ann Titley, in corporate, and Jean-Pierre Larose, a 37-year veteran of the jewelry field, on the manufacturing and retail sides.
Inspired by a love affair with creative influences from around the globe, Opera's first jewelry collection fuses originality, classicism and prestige, and is already making waves. Modern yet elegant, it reflects the profound love of beauty that has electrified the Crevier family for generations.
Diamonds are forever...
...and so is Opera jewelry.
